Baby reunion 2005

On Saturday we motored up to Big Whitefish Lake to hang out with your cohorts from the 18-hour Northwest flight that brought you home to us. The day included splashing in the nice, warm lake, playing in the sandbox and dining on yummy picnic food (and a messy Push-Up pop).

Emma, who's turned into quite the sassy young lady, was sporting a pink bathing suit and a coy look. Her hair's a bit longer of course. And her tummy matches up to yours. In fact, all three of you seem in proportion when it comes to that area. Little baby bellys strutting around all over the place.

Caleb was your foster brother for four months, sharing quarters with you at Mrs. Park's home. He's grown into a serious little boy. He walked early and is more talkative than you and Miss Emma at this point.

You and Caleb weren't quite sure what to make of the lake. It's really shallow near shore so we plunked you all in and let you investigate. You were fine until you lost your footing, landed on your tush and got water in your face. That's when the crying started. But Mommy managed to distract you for a bit with a bucket. You dipped it in and dumped the water out...over and over. Before you fell a second and then third time and finally had enough.

Emma, on the other hand, LOVED the water. That might be due to the fact that she gets to go to the lake every weekend to visit her grandparents and lounge in the sun while the refreshing breeze gently blows her hair. (Yes, there's a twinge of jealousy in Mommy's tone.) Spoiled rotten, I tell ya!

The three of you were quite entertaining. Although you only intersected a few times. You didn't seem to have much interest in each other. But the moment Steve pulled out the first aid kit to get a bandage for Caleb's older brother, all three of you shot right over to check out the action. Other than that, the only times you seemed curious about each other were when one of you had a toy that the other one (or two) wanted. Typical, I'm sure.

It was great to see the other babies and parents. Nine months have gone by already since the plane landed in Detroit. You've all grown so much. Seeing you together was pretty special. We all talked about setting up another get-together in a couple of months. Sounds like a plan.

For the record, yes, that is the Little Mermaid on your tush -- Mommy and Daddy forgot your bathing suit
