Let's pretend

The problem with trying to keep this website updated is that you don't hold still long enough for me to do it -- literally and figuratively. You're just doing so many new things that my head is spinning. So even the thought of trying to relay it in a coherent way gives me a headache!

I'll just dive in to today's cuteness. We'll go backward, though. This afternoon, while Daddy was napping (old guy that he is), you helped Mommy unload the dishwasher. You spied a plastic container and I gave you the go-ahead, then you also grabbed a spatula. Helping, you see, is a relative term. I don't mind, though, since it keeps you busy while I put away the other dishes.

You took the spatula and put it into the bowl and said, "Dinner, Mommy."

"You're making me dinner, sweetie?"

"Yeah!"

And you made me dinner. And I pretended to eat it. Then you made me something else. And I ate that. This went on for many courses. You were so excited to make me something each time. It was the strongest example of pretend that I'd seen from you. You started "feeding" your animals several months ago with your sippy cup, and you do the "vroom-vroom" thing with your trucks, but this was so incredibly sweet and earnest. Daddy came down from his siesta just in time to have a meal served to him too.

The greater part of the day was spent downtown at Festival, where we met up with Patti and her two kiddos for a couple of hours. You ran and danced and giggled up a storm before passing out in the stroller, your head on the tray, an orange balloon clutched firmly in your hand. You woke up later in time to partake in the goodies -- chicken tenders and an ice cream bar. And a bit more dancing.
