Such the imagination
We brought home an impressive box of Cheerios from Costco the other day. Helpful child that you are, you wanted to carry something inside along with Mommy and Daddy's load, so we handed you the Cheerios. Only twice the size of a regular box, so it wasn't too heavy or awkward.
You wrestled it into your grasp and gingerly climbed the front steps with it. Then, as we were unloading the groceries and putting them away, you became a bit more attached to it. I saw you standing there with the box in your hands and decided it didn't need to go into the pantry right away.
As I prepped dinner, you and Daddy began to talk a bit about the cereal you were bonding with. I'm not sure if he suggested it to you or if you volunteered the information, but all of a sudden the cereal became "the baby." I could hear the two of you conversing about it as you sat in the living room. Daddy asked you about your baby. What's the baby's name? Lucy! (Our cat's name.) Is the baby a boy or a girl? Girl! I was chuckling to myself at how cute it all was.
And then you both tromped off upstairs with the box of Cheerios. I called out to Daddy to see what you were up to. "We're going to change the baby's diaper!"
How cute is that?
