Our own little Bob Dole

You've always had this very cute way of referring to yourself. Instead of using the words me or I, you go with Devin. Third person all the way. "Devin do!! "Devin come too!" "Devin all done!" "Devin got it!" "Devin did it!"
Just today, though, I asked you how the water got on the bathroom floor and you happily responded, "Me!" And this morning, when Daddy went to get you out of the crib, you grumpily cried out, "I need my Mommy!" (It's was sooo cute, although I felt bad that you spurned Daddy. Especially since it was my sleep-in day.)
As I've said before, you toddlers switch gears so quickly. One moment you can't do something and the next minute you have it mastered. So I think the days of "Devin pet Juwyette!" are about over. I think I'll miss them.
The weather's been just fantastic around here. Fall is in the air so the evening's are cooling off. Cool enough that you can wear all of your new long-sleeved PJs (as photographed in the preceding entry). You even do a PJ Dance that we recorded on video tonight. You hike up your pants and dance happily around because your body is adorned with either fire trucks, race cars or construction vehicles. Crazy kid.
Tonight, while Daddy made dinner (a yummy dinner!), you played pretend with me. You took your race car lunchbox and told me that you were going shopping, but left me with the Elmer the Elephant lunchbox and informed me that I was going to work. So I "drove" my car to work and "sat" at my desk to type while you shopped. Seconds later you careened around the corner and jumped into the chair to share your loot with me...ice cream, sodas and all sorts of other goodies. Over and over again. You even fetched some feta cheese and olives for me. My favorites!
We've had occasion to make a few new friends (or at least to reacquaint ourselves) this week. Your so great at being open to new people. Other kids don't seem to intimidate you at all. You pal around nicely with Amanda at the park, a fourth-grader. You also shared your trucks with an older boy who just kind of came up and invited himself to play with you. And last night we went to Aunt Stacy's for a get-together on her patio and you were thrilled to play blocks with Sophia and Hannah and to share Calandra's puzzle book. I love watching you interact with other people. You're such a sweetie with that smile you seem to constantly present. My little charmer.
And, of course, you enjoyed our trip to the dog beach on Saturday. What's not to love about cruising around in the sand and capping off the evening with a clown sundae?
