On the go!
Eyeing a ladybug...you even tried to kiss it
Hooray for fall! Well, I say that with some misgivings because they're predicting snow for Thursday and Friday. And I'm truly not ready for that just yet. But the last several days have been lovely. Especially the weekend. We were lucky, too, to be able to take advantage of all three days to really be out and about.
Friday we went to Robinette's and partook of the standard orchard fare. You and Mommy ate pumpkin spice donuts with plenty of sugar on top (it was on your cheeks for hours), then you played on the slide and whooped it up in the fall weather for a bit before we checked out the gift shop and snatched up a pumpkin, which Daddy played catch with much to your amusement.
Saturday was our road trip. We spent the majority of the day in Ann Arbor, surrounded by rabid Wolverine and Spartan fans. Our trip just happened to coincide with the biggest football rivalry in the state. It was fun, though. So much energy and rowdiness. There were people of all ages out and about and you were happy to be in the midst of it. You ran around the quad and hoofed it along the city streets.
We ate Indian food for lunch and stopped for ice cream at Stucchi's later in the afternoon. The sky was blue, blue, blue and it was just so lovely. After a visit to the bookstore, we walked down to Kerrytown to check out Zingerman's Deli, which I've been dying to visit. We scored a loaf of Sesame Semolina, then grabbed drinks at their coffee shop next door.
Afterward we drove a few miles to Plymouth for the Autumn Moon Festival, hosted by the Mam Non Organization at the orchards. They call the festival Chosuk in Korea, but this was a celebration for all Asian cultures. Because we were early, we wandered around for a bit beforehand and Daddy got a cider slushy, which you shared. You managed to slip off the seat of the picnic table as you were reaching to share it with me. You landed on your butt, but bumped your head pretty darn hard. Then, after we joined the celebration, you fell head-first off of another bench. Your poor noggin!
Your favorite part of the evening was sticking your head through the wooden cutouts in the pumpkin area and watching the people practice for the yo-yo demonstration. You also got a chance to decorate a lantern and you got a glow stick to take home. Those were supposed to be for the hayride, but it was 8:00 and you were already so punchy from your long day. So we hit the road and you snoozed all the way to GR while we drove through the post-game traffic.
Yesterday we went to breakfast with Aunt Stacy and your energy level was pretty much the same. You were like a mini tornado. Even though you declined food when you woke up, you weren't hungry enough to sit still for more than five minutes for the meal. So Mommy and Daddy had to take turns running around outside with you -- and take turns talking with Stacy!
We also did a, GASP, art project yesterday. I haven't been that on the ball with the whole crafty thing. Such the neglectful mom. So we made ghosts from napkins and hung them from the mini blinds. You even drew the faces on a couple of them and helped me measure the string. It wasn't enough to keep you busy, though. You spent the entire day in full-throttle mode. That's not a bad thing, mind you, except that Mommy and Daddy aren't always able to be in that same gear. It's hard to keep up with you sometimes, kiddo!
