A picky eater. But a cute one!
We went out for dinner tonight. To celebrate the fact that Daddy got a new job!
He'll be going out of town, already, for three days next week, so we thought it might be a good idea to get in some family time before the craziness begins.
You were so funny on the car ride to the restaurant. You insisted that I sit in back with you and then you spent the entire journey trying to pop the bubbles I blew with my gum.
You did great at dinner. I'm always a bit amazed since I've seen so many kids have meltdowns. You fuss somtimes, but usually you can handle an entire sit-down meal without any real drama.
Although you refuse to eat anything that's GOOD for you. Spinach dip? Ha! Lettuce? You won't ever touch the stuff. But chicken fingers and mashed potatoes? Sure! You also managed to nab a couple of grapes and mandarin oranges from Mommy's salad.
It's like that at home so often too. I think I find mealtime just the most exasperating part of the day. If anything has a hint of health benefits, you'll eschew it without giving it even a small taste. Even if we haven't said a word to you about it. You must have some telepathic thing going on when it comes to vegetables.
We have had some limited success, though. You've started eating raw carrots over past few weeks. And I've discovered that you love the frozen spanikopita from Costco. I pop those in the oven and you devour them. I just make sure I never mention that they're chock full of spinach!
Beyond that, I'm just hoping you can subsist on the nutrients in cheese and fruit.
