Normalcy...sort of

Now that Daddy's back at work, you're back at daycare on a normal schedule. In fact, we've decided to up you to four days a week so I can use the extra day to handle projects and not have to work evenings and weekends (hopefully!). On top of the extra day, you also just moved up to your preschool class. So there have been plenty of changes going on lately. Including Daddy traveling to St. Louis and Boston, and Mommy to Vegas.
This week is the first calm one we've had in a while. Calm and coooolllldddd! We had a blizzard come through on Saturday and all three of us (and poor Juliette) were pretty much confined to the house all weekend. Then I drove you to daycare on Monday only to discover that it, and about 400 schools and centers across the state, was closed. So another homebound day. By the time you actually made it to daycare yesterday, you were bouncing off the walls.
You seem to enjoy your new class. You loved Wanda, but Erin's a very nice teacher too. She helped in your class many times before so you've played with her and you're comfortable around her. But you've been very tentative the last two mornings when it comes to entering the new room. Luckily Zachary was there to barrel into you with a big hug today! There are many kids on the room that you don't know well, so seeing Zachary helped you to take the step inside.
Wanda actually babysat for you on Friday so Mommy and Daddy could go out for dinner. You were so excited to have her here, after six months without any sitters coming to our house, that you practically pushed us out the door. I was glad to see that you weren't shy about things. You'd only been with Grandma over the last few months, so it's good to know that we can resume our date-night outings from time to time with no worries.
Tonight we had an outing of our own. Dinner at Sam's Oasis. Hummus, pita bread, chicken kebabs and rice. You tried Daddy's gyro and loved it. You also tried the tasty lentil soup and licked the bowl clean. It was a great evening of hanging out. You even serenaded Mommy with the ABC song.
Speaking of songs, you've become quite the singer lately. You were on a "Baa Baa Black Sheep" kick for a while. You'd sing it at the top of your lungs. At home or in public. You also like "Hot Potato" by the Wiggles and "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" (sang as "tinkle tinkle little tar").
You're still incredibly curious about everything, and the "why" phase remains in play. You want to know "why" about every event that takes place or word that's uttered. It can be exhausting for us parents because sometimes those answers aren't as easy to come by. You kept asking me about the seeds in the apple I was eating this morning. You wanted to know where the seeds were. I explained they were in the middle. "I wanna see dem!" I explained that you couldn't see them because they were in the middle and I was eating around it. I finally got the bright idea, when I was finished, to bring a cutting board to the table and cut the apple open to show you the seeds. You were duly impressed.
Daddy's traveling to a conference this week. When he gets back, I think we're going to take the gigantic step of moving you up to a big-boy bed. Further reports on that event to come!
