And away he goes!

Last night we played outside for a bit after dinner because you wanted to "pull some more weeds." This involved, the night before, Mommy pulling weeds and you scooping them into the basket of your truck to dump into the yard. Surprisingly, it was a very efficient method of weed-pulling for me because you dumped the weeds into big piles and we just swept them up and into the lawn bags. Voila!
So we started with another round of that, but your interest quickly waned and you traipsed back to the garage to explore your other options. And you chose the trike. We strapped on your helmet and then headed for the sidewalk. As we were moving along I noticed that you were, gasp, pedaling! This is not something you've been able to connect before. You let Mommy and Daddy push you along until you became adept at scooting the bike with your feet (ala Fred Flintstone).
What fun to watch you pedaling away! You'd obviously had this breakthrough at daycare sometime recently, because the last time I'd seen you motoring around on one of their trikes, you were still flat-footin' it.
It's actually one of your bigger milestones in my eyes because as Daddy and I followed behind you on the sidewalk, I told him it was true proof you were growing up and spreading your wings. There you were, pedaling furiously ahead, creating more distance between you and us. Riding off into the sunset toward your own future. You'd just better not be riding too fast, buster!
