It's a good thing you're so cute

Because after this weekend, Mommy and Daddy might have been tempted to sell you to the gypsies. Holy pete, kid! You were a total pain in the royal butt over the past two days. The last two of our three-day Labor Day weekend. Those are supposed to be fun, family bonding times. Not the war of the worlds.

I think the reason it was so hard for us is that you're normally an easy-going kid. You have your 3-year-old moments, yes. But they never last for very long.

Among the offenses we experienced? Hitting. Biting. Fake shooting with your finger, which nearly drove me to the brink. Fake spitting. Laughing when being disciplined. Yelling. Name calling (as in, "You a X!" and substitute the X for anything under the sun...tooth, peanut, baba, doodle, etc.). Running away when you were asked to do something.

And then, the ultimate one in Mommy's book: Telling me to "Shut up" when I was brushing your teeth last night. Hello??? You got a big time out for that one, during which you screamed and stomped until Daddy had to sit down and hold you. Then you did a continuous chorus of, "Shut up! Shut up! Shut up!" Gahhhhhh.

I'd rented you "Toy Story" for the weekend and Daddy thinks that might have a bit to do with it. We can blame Tom Hanks for your new phrase, because Woody said it quite a few times to Buzz Lightyear. Damn Pixar/Disney movies! I swear there's always something. I'm surprised you haven't said "hell" yet since it pops up twice in "Cars".

Anyway, we survived. Barely. Today was slightly better than yesterday, so I've got my fingers crossed that tomorrow continues along that trend.

Hey, we all have our moments, right?

And I'll close with a sweet story your daycare teacher shared with us last week. You've had a friend throughout your time at the center who you really bonded with. Aidan D. You guys just seemed to click. And you talk about him all the time. You even ask Daddy to add his name into songs like "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" (as in "Take Devin and Mommy and Daddy and Aidan D. out to the ball game!")

So Aidan's been MIA from daycare lately, but we heard from Erin he was coming back on Thursday. On our way out to the car, you asked, "Is Aidan D. going to be at Wanda's house today?"

When we got there, you spied him and shot off to play. You had the happiest smile on your face and you didn't even want the traditional kiss-hug-high five. You told me "Just a hug today, Momma."

Well, when Daddy picked you up, they told him that when you woke up from your nap, you asked if you could sit by Aidan D. They let you. And you sat there next to him while he slept, staying the entire time until he woke up. How incredibly sweet is that???
