Zzzzzip!

So I've obviously never gotten around to recapping the rest of our New England trip. Go figure. Instead, I shall trumpet one of your newest achievements.

You can zip your coat all by yourself!

You've been able to zip up and down for quite a while. It's just the starting of the zipper that's perplexed you. Understandably so. It's not easy for me sometimes. I have one coat that takes me five minutes to get zipped up.

Today, as we were prepping for a trip to Chuck E. Cheese for your friend's birthday party*, I looked down and saw that your coat was all zipped up. I looked at Daddy and asked him if he'd helped you. Nope. You did it solo! Further proof of the growing-up stuff.

Although we're still working on solo pottying. Sometimes you go right in there and do your thing without any assistance, but I'm leery of letting you have "your privacy" after you pooped on the toilet seat yesterday. Um, yuck. Worse than the smell and mess, though, was the fact that you laughed at me when I came in and discovered your problem and said, "Look what I did, Mommy!" Grrrr. We've been working on the inappropriate laughter lesson for a while (e.g., it's not OK to laugh at someone when they stub their toe). It sure is taking a while to sink in, though!

*You loved this experience. Mommy can liken it to having hot pokers stuck in my eyes. Total chaos and noise! The next friend who has the bright idea of a party at this location can count on Daddy bringing you along.
