Trying to find Nemo

You're downstairs sleeping right now. And coughing. You and the cough. Any time you get a runny nose, you get this nasty cough. At least you earned it fully this time. You woke up around 11:30 last night with a fever and threw up a few hours later. So now you're resting. Finally. Getting you to sleep, even when you've had so little, is such a process!

You fell asleep watching Nemo, your new favorite movie. When we rented it on Friday, you made me turn it off because you were scared. We rented it for you about a year ago and Bruce the shark scared the pants off you then, so you've found other flicks you like better. But you kept telling me, "Momma, when I'm older I'll watch Nemo and not be scared anymore."

I don't blame you for finding it scary. I skipped over the first scene because it scares even ME. Why Disney has to kill off all the mothers is just beyond me.

So anyway, we turned it off and you watched "Ratatouille" instead.

Afterward? You asked for Nemo again. Sadist. And you got scared again. So I told you I thought we should take that one back and stick with the others. But no. You decided later you wanted to try a third time. I was shaking my head, but Daddy decided to go ahead with it. You were fine, but you had to have one of us down there. And I had to talk you through the shark and big-ugly-bottom-feeder fish scenes, saying things like, "Don't worry, sweetie. Dory and Marlin get away. There's a happy ending."

So you made it through the entire movie. Now we just skip over the dead mommy part and the diver catching Nemo. That one still bothers you. But you did indeed conquer your fears of the rest of the movie. Determined little guy that you are.
